Working with members of the technology community, the National Federation of the Blind has developed a rigorous procedure by which Web sites and applications that have made special efforts to be accessible to the blind can be identified and recognized.
The mission in the NFB is to integrate the blind into society on a basis of equality. Ensuring full access to information technology and resources is a vital piece of that mission. NFB has a better grasp of the consumer point of view of blindness accessibility than any other entity in the United States.
Not only is it in their best interest to maintain the integrity of our standards for certification, but they are also in the best position of any organization to determine usability of applications and Web sites by the blind.
